Miss Tennessee 2006 Judges

 

W David Blackledge
David Blackledge has been involved with the Miss Mississippi Pageant since 1981 and has served as Executive Director for 14 years. He is a member of the Miss Mississippi Board of Directors and is Executive Director of the Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen Pageant. A native of Laurel, Mississippi, David is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and the University of Oklahoma Compliance Banking School. He is Vice President with Riverhills Bank in Vicksburg. He and his wife Jan have two daughters, Laura and Lindsey. David is a member, deacon, and youth Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church. He is involved in numerous civic organizations including The Vicksburg Civitan Club, Vicskburg Jaycees, Vicksburg Warren Chamber of Commerce, andCo- Chairman of Riverfest. He was selected Outstanding Young Man by Vicksburg Jaycees and Outstanding Young Mississippian by the Mississippi Jaycees. 

 

Frank Dobson
            A published novelist, poet and essayist, Frank E. Dobson, Jr., is Director of the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center at Vanderbilt University.  A native of Buffalo, NY, Dobson has taught and lectured at a number of universities and colleges across the country, including Fisk and Vanderbilt Universities as well as Bluffton, Indiana, and Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, where he was Associate Professor of English and Director of the Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center.
Dobson's novel, entitled The Race is Not Given was published in January of 1999, by SterlingHouse Publisher.  Dobson has had work appear in such periodicals as Pacific Poetry and Fiction Review, Shooting Star Review, and Warpland.  In 1994, he won the Zora Neale Hurston/Bessie Head Fiction Writers Award from Chicago State University.  In 1996, he received an Artist's Fellowship for his fiction from the Montgomery County Regional Arts and Cultural District.
The recipient of a 1992 Ford Foundation Fellowship to study black culture at the University of Pennsylvania, Dobson is currently involved in a number of writing projects, including his second novel, tentatively titled, "Climbing," focusing on the lives of twelve members of an inner city gospel choir, over a twenty year span. Dobson received his B.A. in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo; the M.A. in English from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas; the Ph.D. in English from Bowling Green State University.
 

 

Rosalyn Mennon
An employee of CBS News in New York, Rosalyn Menon works as an Associate Producer for 60 Minutes and 60 Minutes Wednesday.  Rosalyn traveled as Dan Rather's anchor producer and researcher, while working for the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather and for CBS News Special Events.  During her first year at CBS News, she was nominated for a national EMMY for her work in investigative journalism.  She began her tenure at CBS News immediately upon completing her year as Miss Pennsylvania 2001.
During her year as Miss Pennsylvania, Rosalyn traveled the state and country working on behalf of children's health issues.  In addition to being named Miss Pennsylvania 2001, she was also a preliminary talent winner.  At the Miss America Pageant, she was a Top 20 finalist and the overall winner of the Interview competition.  Rosalyn co-authored a book with her fellow Miss America contestants, "Under the Crown" which recounted their experiences at Miss America during the tragedy of September 11th.  Rosalyn is a classically trained pianist and has extensive training in music, voice and dance.  A graduate of Brown University, where she was a Coca-Cola National Scholar and was honored with a Brown University UTRA fellowship, Rosalyn now resides in the exciting city of New York.
 

 

Rob Loy
 Robert has been active with the Miss America Program for 22 years.  He has judged Miss America state pageants in Louisiana, Indiana and North Carolina.  He presently serves as the Vice President and Judges Chairman for the Miss Florida Scholarship Pageant.  Robert is honored to have assisted Miss Florida 2003, Ericka Dunlap, become Miss America 2004.
Robert graduated from Ball State University with dual Bachelor's Degrees in Theater and Counseling Psychology.  He has special training in voice, dance and acting and appeared in Ball State Theater Productions.  Robert currently resides in Tampa, where he is a Senior Social Worker at the Hillsborough County Public Health Department's Specialty Care Center.  An avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, Robert is also active in numerous charitable and civic organizations.

Lue Napper
Lue has been a volunteer for the Miss America Scholarship program for the past 35 years. He has been the Executive Director of the Queen Dixie Gem Pageant of the Louisiana Peach Festival for the past 35 years, the Vice President and Treasurer of the Miss Teen Louisiana Pageant since it was founded 14 years ago. He has been a Field Director for the Miss Louisiana Pageant and was the head of the grooming committee for the contestant sent to the Sweetheart Pageant each year. Lue was also on the steering committee forming the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. He has judged numerous local
pageants in the states of Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi and has judged the Miss Teen Arkansas, Miss Teen Tennessee Pageants and Miss Teen Mississippi Pageants. He is most proud that two of his former contestants have become medical doctors and two have gotten PHD’s with the help of scholarship monies received through the Miss America System.
He resides in Ruston Louisiana and works in the field of Real Estate and Investments. He is married to the former Becky Marbury and has one son Lomax who is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas and is currently working on his PHD.

 

Lori Ungurait
Lori Ungurait is the University of Tennessee's Consultant on Community Education programming with the Law Enforcement Innovation Center. She manages the administration of prevention programs that assist Tennessee schools in their efforts to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.Certified by the National Health Promotion Associates, Inc. to deliver the LifeSkills Training curriculum, she has worked with counselors, teachers, and principals for six years now in the delivery of LST in over 115 of Tennessee's middle schools. Before joining UT in 2000, she was a program manager for the PENCIL Foundation where she coordinated partnerships between Nashville's Public Schools and the local business community.
