As a child, I struggled academically due to an undetected learning disability called dyslexia. As Miss Tennessee, I will raise awareness on the importance of early childhood screening. I will work along side Tennessee State and Local officials to have legislation passed, requiring all children entering early elementary education be tested for Dyslexia to help mitigate learning gaps. With my voice of advocacy and experience for the implementation of specialized programs in Tennessee schools, as a state, we can ensure our children with dyslexia gain optimal success in the classroom just like me.
