My name is Abigail Schwartz, Miss Historic Greeneville 2020. I am currently a 2L at the University of Tennessee College of Law, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Liberty University. My plan for the future is to pursue a career in the field of Entertainment Law. My talent is piano, and I have played for over 14 years, winning both state and national competitions. My platform is “Work Like a Girl” which sheds a light on the ongoing issue of the gender-pay gap and inspires others to initiate change. I started my platform after speaking to a female attorney, who informed me that she, and other women in the field, are still subjected to sexual harassment and unfair wages in the male dominated legal field. As I strive to become a lawyer, it is important that I work towards ensuring that workplaces become equal across the board. To promote my platform, I have worked with the “Lean-In” organization, which provides free materials to educate workplaces and individuals on the importance of equality. Further, I am heading up a fundraiser through the “Dress for Success” organization. Dress for Success aims to provide underprivileged women with the resources that they need to succeed in their workplace.
