Hi! I am Leah Fillers, Miss Greene County 2020. Currently, I am a freshman at East Tennessee State University where I am studying biology, in pursuit of becoming an immunologist. When I am not at school, you can find me playing bass and singing in my bluegrass gospel band “Threads of Faith”. I am also assistant pianist at my church (where my papaw is the Pastor). Music has had such a huge impact on my life and I have found that it can be so healing in a variety of ways. With my social impact initiative, “Make a Joyful Noise”, I am able to use this platform to provide students in the Greene County School System with a musical instrument of their choice that they could not otherwise afford. As I made my community aware of this need, many people have given gently used instruments and/or monetary donations to help me reach my goal of 30 instruments donated this school year. Through this project these students are not only learning to play an instrument but are being introduced to the beautiful world of music.
